Being a Juror:
New York Festivals: Why did you decide to accept the invite to NYF’s Executive Jury?
Rosie Bardales: I’m very fond of New York as it was the place that kicked off my career, so a dedicated ceremony to showcasing the best work around that bears its name…has my vote.
Working in Advertising:
New York Festivals: Tell us an experience (or two) that shaped the course of your career.
Rosie Bardales: New York was and has always been a place where you go to make it. Advertising is a natural part of the cities DNA where opportunity thrives. People open to other people who want to be great at what they love but just need a chance. I’ll never forget traveling to NYC from Texas when I started out and literally making a million phone calls to get the one that would speak to me at Cliff Freeman & Partners. That was a very good day. The rest is history.
New York Festivals: Share an ad you are particularly proud of.
Rosie Bardales: And I made this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-n6zI3lm6U
New York Festivals: What is the most outlandish request you’ve ever gotten at work?
Rosie Bardales: Can you cast someone uglier?
New York Festivals: What do you look for when hiring new talent?
Rosie Bardales: Enthusiasm.
New York Festivals: What’s the toughest part of your job?
Rosie Bardales: Firing people.
New York Festivals: Favorite part?
Rosie Bardales: Hiring talented people.
