The 2018 New York Festivals Executive Jury, is an elite dream team of Global Chief Creative Officers and C-Suite creative executives. Words like iconic, visionary, accomplished and influential come to mind when describing these prominent award-winning creative leaders. The jury will assemble this April in New York City for 4 days of live judging across all mediums—one panel of advertising giants, 30+ strong, all coming together to select the World’s Best Advertising®.

2018 Executive Jury member Eduardo Maruri is President & CEO of Grey Latin America. President and Chief Creative Officer of Maruri Grey Ecuador. He is currently an active member of Grey´s Global Creative Council.

Eduardo worked for The Gillette Company for 5 years, in Ecuador and Boston, before opening his own agency, Maruri Grey in 1991. Maruri Grey has been awarded as Ecuadorian Agency of the Year more than 10 times, including 2013/2014 and 2014/2015. In 2012 Maruri won the first Cannes Lion for Ecuador. Eduardo has accumulated a total of 30 Lions in the last 5 years, including 2 Golds in 2016. Eduardo was acknowledged by Ad Latina as one of the 10 most important executives in Latin America. He is an active member of his community. As a former Congressman, he contributed to the drafting of the current Ecuadorian Constitution. Maruri was also President of Barcelona Sporting Club, the most popular soccer team in Ecuador, and President of the Guayaquil Chamber of Commerce.

Eduardo has a degree in Economics from Eastern Michigan University and Marketing from Harvard University (Extension School) and UC Berkeley. He recently completed his MBA at the Berlin School of Creative Leadership.

New York Festivals: Why did you decide to accept the invite to NYF’s Executive Jury?

Eduardo Maruri: New York Festivals is definitely a showcase that presents the best work in creative communications.  And we, at Grey, are in the business of creativity.  We use creativity to solve our client´s business problems. And it is only when you understand that dynamic and put creativity at the center of everything that results are tangible, and you deliver a much better creative product. The New York Festivals trespass boundaries to show the world creative and innovative work as well as the people that creates it.

New York Festivals: What do you look for when hiring new talent?

Eduardo Maruri: I look for passionate people and I look for visionary people.  These are the ones that have what it takes to inspire others and the ability to make others follow them.

New York Festivals: How do you find balance (or do you?) between your high-powered job and life/family/outside of-work fun? Any ‘secrets’ you can share?

Eduardo Maruri: You gotta have fun at what you are doing.  It doesn´t matter if it is at the office, or at a vacation, or home. It all comes down to enjoying the things you do on a daily basis
