Executive Creative Director, Cheil, Hong Kong
Born and bred in the UK, Paul stumbled into advertising in 1999.
His first big break came at DDB—where he had the blessing and the curse of working on one of the world's most prestigious accounts, Volkswagen. Luckily, his first print work was rewarded with a Gold statue at London International and recognition at D&AD’s inaugural Global Congress.
He then went on to win at every other show that matters—with 10 Cannes Lions, multiple pencils at both D&AD and The One Show, Clio statues, numerous AdFest Golds, Spikes Asia Golds, Ad Star Golds, Epica Golds, Gold Effies, Gold at New York Festivals, Best of Shows and multiple Golds at Kam Fan, Gold at Times Asia and lots of shiny Longxi, Award Awards and Webby gongs.
Most notably, his Freshlock and Westone campaigns were instrumental in making DDB the most awarded Hong Kong agency at Cannes, Spikes and AdFest for two years in a row. During this period, Paul was ranked the No.1 most awarded creative in Hong Kong by Campaign magazine.
Then in 2012, Paul took up the creative helm at Cheil and has already helped the agency score its first-ever Kam Fan Grand Prix, 3 Cannes Lions, 4 D&AD Pencils, 2 Gold One Show Pencils, an unprecedented 7-Gold haul at London International, a 5-Gold haul at Epica and multiple Spikes Asia Golds, AdFest Golds, Ad Star Golds, Silver Clio, a winner's gong at the Webbys and more.
Under his creative leadership, Cheil was also the top-performing agency at both Spikes Asia 2017 and London International 2017—taking home the inaugural ‘Country Agency of the Year’ and ‘Regional Agency of the Year’ respectively.
Paul is currently Hong Kong's No.1-ranked creative in both Campaign Brief Asia’s Creative Rankings for 2017 and Campaign Brief Asia's THE WORK 2017. He is also the world's 5th highest-ranked ECD in The Drum's Big Won Rankings 2017.
Paul has judged at every major award show, including: Cannes, D&AD, The One Show, London International Awards, Clio, AdFest, New York Festivals, Longxi Nova, Festival Volcán, Citra Pariwara and the Lisbon International Advertising Festival.
Beyond his passion for the business, Paul is married with a beautiful wife and two very loud kids, none of whom give a flying hoot about his shiny gongs.
